Wasn't I one of the first people to welcome you when you popped up on IRC?

My WIP is going swimmingly (funny choice of words for a desert track). About 50 seconds in... the "intro" if you will...
However, over the course of working on this I'm beginning to see just how darn difficult this song is to work with, lol.

I'm not starting my WIP until sometime in November. (I hope this is okay, Ben!). Songs only take me about two weeks to complete, so the compositional aspect of my song will be done by the first due date. Then by Feb. my pianist and I should have a couple of recordings for y'all.
I just thought I'd say, so no one thinks I dropped off the face of the Earth.

lo0pyluke? What kind of name is that? I was expecting you to post here as Darklight or something! Yeah, I endorse this guy, linked him here. Actually, it was in regards to the Oracle of Seasonings name. If he registers, approve ASAP.

I'm liking the samples. You're free to take any of the few remaining tracks if you get any ideas.
Anyway, I put you on the instrument list. Again, though, I'm only approving the accounts of people who are for sure involved. I'll let you know if we end up wanting you for Din's Dance.

Well, looks like OCR has started organizing an OOT project with a mysterious private forum. This makes three concurrent Zelda projects plus another secret unofficial one in planning mode. I'm not holding my breath about all this project officializing business (if I had been, I'd have died months ago). I still think it'd be weird to have the second Oracle album official. But we will see. OR WILL WE? *dun dun dun* (always appreciate the prompt responses, OCR staff)
At any rate...there'll be a Zelda flood over the next few years, I guess. We started it 'cause we're cool like that.
You know. Since nobody's ever remixed Zelda before.

Oh god... not another OoT project....
My biggest issue with the remix community these days is that official projects should actually start focusing on the more over looked games out there.
I mean I've heard dozens of Gerudo Desert remixes, Song of Storm remixes, Zelda Lullaby's and so on. Games like OoT, or say FFVII, or Chrono Trigger, Mega Man ect. ect. don't need official projects. There are so many fans who do songs from those games with out any persuasion.
Meanwhile you have great sound tracks that go unnoticed, like Jet Force Gemini, Star Fox (I've heard some decent remixes, but I'm still surprised how few there are), among others. I don't know even in the big game series certain games always get the attention. I can only hope that as we get some of these popular titles out of the way that other projects will focused on more over looked games.

I completely agree. I guess the theory behind picking popular titles is that a lot of people will want to be involved, but honestly, any Zelda game would gather enough interest. And there are plenty of other popular, yet underremixed games. Yeah, I'll enjoy the OOT project if it gets done, but I'm not really excited for it at all.
The secret Zelda project I've heard about, though...I've been waiting for that one to go public for a couple weeks.
Also: Mega Man 2 definitely doesn't need any more attention, but Mega Man 9...whoo. Glad there's a project for that. Now if they'd just finish...

Let's check the OCR front page for some lulz: donkey kong super mario donkey kong final fantasy donkey kong fallout 3TrenchesTrenchesfinal fantasy castlevania donkey kong final fantasy mega man castlevania super mario O RLY? Ya RLY! Like there's only 15 games total in the whole world and they get arranged over and over. But that's the way it is: popular game sountracks will simply never cease to be covered. Imagine if there wasn't any new Terra, Schala, Gerudo, Icecap, or Willy Castle remix every week... People would mysteriously 'an hero' all over the internet! ;D Joke aside, it's not so much of a problem with quality, since most of these remixes are obviously very enjoyable and well produced. It's more of an issue with diversity, and people's choice to opt for security over taking the risk to bring some more obscure game to light. It feels as if, overtime, OCR has become some sort of major record label for video game remixes, by being the standard. Bottom line: the officialness thing shouldn't undermine the effort put into making any other kind of (less-official) project a reality. What Ben did with EoL requires a ton of work and dedication, and the boldness to go with a less popular title ...which in theory should make it harder to recruit and less likely to find listeners. Yet, we all know what happened despite the odds.

I'd really love to hear people do remixes of Animal Crossing man... that's one game that has some wonderful songs. It has a lot of fans as well... there was once a project that was started for the game, but it didn't see a true release. It was released, but considered incomplete. So I will never hear a beautiful remixed version of the 2am music from Animal Crossing Wild World. It's both touching, sad, mysterious, and relaxing... I just can't describe the emotions produced by the song. Like I'd love to hear a take on it that was completely done in piano and classical guitar. The game series has many other great songs as well. Paper Mario series also has a lot of really cool songs as well. Like if people really love doing songs from famous game series, maybe they should start looking into some of the more obscure games in those franchises. What about a Super Mario Land remix project (cover Super Mario Land, SML II, and Wario Land)... actually Game Boy games are very under done in general, despite how well known they are. Metroid Fusion anyone? Mario Kart Super Circuit? Mother 3? There are loads of titles that are often overlooked in the remix community simply because they aren't the main stays. Hell some of even the most popular games have tracks within them that are over looked. I mean I've heard lots of Gerudo Valley and Windmill Hut remixes... but what about remixes of Hyrule Field? Or why no remixes of Zora's Domain... even the Lost Woods is overlooked a lot. Anyways I could go on forever probably with this topic

You've picked some really good songs, but the main reason most songs like that aren't mixed is because they're difficult and require effort. ^__~
Sounds stupid, but I'm not kidding. It's much easier to make a remix of a chiptune, where all you need is to add chords to a tune than take a fully developed track with awkward instrumentation and heaps of major 7ths and major6+9ths (Animal Crossing tracks are notorious for major 7th's I've noticed).
Things with simple chords and melodies can also easily be worked out too, so Windmill, Icecap Zone and all the other easy tunes are gunna be remixed like hell.
That's the way I see it anyway.
